ABOUT THE CAMPUS PARTNERSHIP
MISSION
To partner with
Connecticut
's colleges and universities to reduce students' risk-taking behavior related
to alcohol and other drugs.
Connecticut
's institutions of higher learning will engage in the Campus Partnership in a
collaborative and coordinated effort to:
- Create campuses, communities and a state that actively engage in prevention efforts
to reduce high-risk alcohol use, drug use and the negative consequences of high-risk
behavior;
- Implement science-based prevention and intervention initiatives on
Connecticut
campuses;
- Facilitate a support network for information sharing and action planning on statewide
issues related to high-risk alcohol use, drug use and the negative consequences
of high-risk behavior among
Connecticut
's college students.
GOALS
- To build the capacity of
Connecticut
's institutions of higher learning to implement effective alcohol and other drug
prevention programs by providing technical assistance and training opportunities.
- To help create a supportive environment for campuses to practice effective prevention
strategies.
- To expand support and resources dedicated to alcohol and other drug prevention
on college and university campuses.
CAMPUS TRAINING
The Governor's Prevention Partnership facilitated a year long campus training
series to provide campuses with the latest research in higher education prevention
practices.
More than 70 campus staff from 25 institutions were trained in program philosophy
and technique. Those trainings include:
- BASICS: Brief Alcohol and Screening for College Students
- Skills for Building Effective Coalitions and Task Forces
- Social Norms Marketing in the Campus and Community
- Choosing What Works: Selecting the Best Prevention Programs for Your Campus
