Putting Best Practices into Action:
Fostering Positive Youth Development in CT
The Governor's Prevention Partnership is planning a fall conference focused on
positive youth development. The conference will provide "state of the art" information
on mentoring, school-based services and other initiatives which support young
people on their path to the future workforce.
This conference will engage and motivate participants to expand prevention in
their organizations and communities by demonstrating how positive youth development
strategies, specifically at the individual and organizational levels, are an effective
means of prevention.
Presenters will represent programs which encourage sustained, positive adult-youth
relationships, youth life-skill building activities, youth participation and leadership
in community activities. In addition, presenters willl represent a host of agencies
and organizations, including mentoring programs, school systems, youth leadership
programs and educational resource centers.
Participants will:
- Learn about postive youth development strategies to implement in their organizations.
- Hear from mentoring and school-based programs across the state about innovative way us to support youth.
