TOOLS FOR PARENTS

The Statewide Healthy Campus Initiative (SHCI), comprising representatives from 38 of the state's 46 colleges and universities, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, The Governor's Prevention Partnership and parents themselves, knows that caregivers are one of the most important factors in a student's development.

SHCI's vision is to foster a campus-community culture that reduces the occurrence of high-risk alcohol and other drug use on Connecticut's campuses.  We hope you explore the tools on our site.

Parent Advocacy
Compelled to Act.com
is one of the best tools at parents' fingertips.  Ellen and Stephen Guest of West Hartford, Connecticut created the site after the tragic death of their daughter, Kristine, who was in a snowmobile accident at Paul Smith College.  The driver was drunk.  Compelled to Act is dedicated to enhancing campus safety by preventing the tragic consequences of alcohol-related incidences.
