Connecting With a Mentee Who is Different From You: Diversity Skills for Mentors
The purpose of this training is to help mentor coordinators understand and recognize
the importance of cultural competency and how it can lead to a successful mentoring
relationship.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify differences between cultural competency and cultural awareness;
- Offer mentors skills and techniques to help bridge cultural differences and to avoid cultural collision (language);
- Explore and identify perceptions and assumptions about culture;
- Given strategies and tips for incorporating cultural competency acitivities into
mentor trainings.
Primary audience(s):
Mentoring program coordinators and managers.
