Peer Mediation Design A Team 

Did you know that a well-designed, well-run peer mediation program can lead to fewer fights, discipline referrals, suspensions and expulsions while also helping to improve school climate? Studies show that conflicts resolved through peer mediation result in successful resolutions 71%-100% of the time. 

If your school or organization is interested in starting a peer mediation program, this training is for you. We will walk you through the necessary steps in designing a program that is specifically tailored to your school's needs and that ensures your school meets national standards. 

Note:  Participation in this workshop is recommended prior to participating in Peer Mediation Training-of-Trainers.

Participants will be able to: 

  • Prepare a rationale for peer mediation;
  • Identify the specific components of an effective peer mediation program; and
  • Develop and apply a peer mediation plan for their school or organization that meets national standards. 

Primary audience(s): Administrators, Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Social Workers, Guidance Counselors, Youth Workers, Parent Coordinators.

Secondary audience(s): Central Office Administrators, Department Supervisors, Juvenile Probation Officers, Violence Prevention Specialists.
