Marijuana Forum

Did you know that the 2009 Youth Risk Behavior Survey revealed that 21.8% of Connecticut high school students had smoked marijuana within the past 30 days of the study? This forum on marijuana use will educate parents and concerned community members on the harmful and often-overlooked effects of the drug, as well as provide information on new and prospective state policies regarding possession and use. A panel of experts from diverse fields - law enforcement, healthcare, and the public sector - will present their specialized knowledge and answer audience questions.


Participants will:

  • Identify the dangers of marijuana use among youth.
  • Recognize the patterns of youth use throughout the nation and the state.
  • Integrate expert knowledge from diverse fields into their understanding of marijuana use.
  • Discuss Connecticut's decriminalization act and changes in drug penalties.
