Training-of-Trainers for Mentor Training
New mentors are more likely to succeed if they participate in an effective training
session to prepare them for their role. Mentors need to understand the scope
of their responsibilities, develop skills to be an effective mentor, understand
positive youth development and understand the policies and procedures of the program.
This training of trainer session will equip the program staff member with the
skills and resources needed to lead a mentor training, including an outline for
a two-hour mentor training session and a generic mentor handbook that can be tailored
for the program
Participants will:
- Learn the nuts and bolts of delivering an effective two-hour basic mentor training
- Identify strategies that work for training mentors
- Practice training and group facilitation skills
- Understand how to sequence the components of the mentor training
- Receive a basic mentor training outline and a generic mentor handbook
Who Should Attend? School, business, community and faith-based staff members who are responsible for running mentor program and/or staff who are directly responsible for training mentors.
