NATIONAL MENTORING MONTH
Share What You Know. Become a Mentor.
Governor M. Jodi Rell proclaimed January National Mentoring Month as part of
a statewide campaign to encourage adults, especially men, to mentor children in
their communities.
In Connecticut, the National Mentoring Month campaign is spearheaded by The Governor's
Prevention Partnership and nationally by the Harvard Mentoring Project, MENTOR and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Mentors were honored at events throughout the state in January. Events included
Central Connecticut State University's annual Mentor Day, Thank Your Mentor Day and The Governor's Prevention Partnership's Spotlight on Partners in Mentoring
annual awards breakfast on Jan. 29, recognizing Connecticut businesses committed
to mentoring.*
The Partnership also teamed up with NBC 30, CBS Radio, Comcast and other media
outlets throughout the state to help spread the word about the importance of mentoring
in the lives of young people and the critical need for more male mentors.
*The Governor's Prevention Partnership appreciates the generosity of this year's
Spotlight on Partners in Mentoring awards breakfast presenting sponsor, Dominion.
