Jill Spineti, President of The Governor's Prevention Partnership, joined Connecticut Style to debunk some of the myths associated with underage drinking.

Myth: Underage drinking is harmless
Fact: Each year, approximately 5,000 young people under the age of 21 dies as a result of illegal drinking.

Myth: My kids don't drink
Fact: More than two-thirds of 10th graders, and about two in every five 8th graders have consumed alcohol.

Myth: My kid won't imitate my behavior
Fact: Beliefs about alcohol are established very early in life, even before the child begins elementary school.
