National Mentoring Summit
This year’s annual National Mentoring Summit, convened by MENTOR with support from the public and private sectors has shifted from the former January date to February 1-3, 2017 at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. If you have attended in the past, you know what an incredible opportunity it is to network with your colleagues, hear nationally recognized speakers and learn from the many workshops which are available. The Summit will focus on “Building Relationships, Advancing The Movement. Register at www.mentoring.org.
This year’s welcome reception will be on Capitol Hill. Join mentoring leaders on February 1, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Kennedy Caucus Room (SR-325) inside the Senate Russell Office Building. Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served. Capitol Hill is an easy Metro (subway) ride from the Renaissance Hotel.
The Partnership is pleased to announce that President and CEO, Jill Spineti and Board of Directors Co-chair, Dawn C. Morris, Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer, Webster Bank will present “Managing Your Board to Build Youth Mentoring” at the Summit. In addition, staff of the Partnership will be in attendance and will report findings in the March newsletter.
Congratulations to Brandon L. McGee, Jr., Assistant Majority Leader at the State Legislature who will be an honoree at the Annual Excellence in Mentoring Awards to be presented at an invitation-only reception and dinner in the Great Hall of the historic Library of Congress on the first evening of the Summit. Mr. McGee will accept this award in recognition of his longstanding commitment to expanding quality mentoring relationships for young people in his home state of CT.
