Letter From Our President and CEO
Spring and "springtime" refer to the season, and also to ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and re-growth. That is exactly what Mentoring Programs are doing this time of year. Many programs are celebrating their mentee and mentors accomplishments at year-end celebrations and creating program goals for the next year.
We would like to celebrate three individuals who this past year contributed to Mentoring in Connecticut. Please join me in congratulating Kimberly Mauro from First Niagara and Deanna Levine from Sequel International who have been inducted into the Corporate Mentoring Hall of Fame. Michael Cunningham is the first recipient of the Mentee of the Year Award. He is a mentee in the Danbury Schools and Business Collaborative Program. These three individuals will be honored at local celebrations.
On June 7, 2016, The Partnership is hosting a Disability Bias, What Mentoring Programs Need to Know training. This training is important as it will help mentoring program staff learn about subtle disability bias and receive tips to support mentees with disabilities. This is one of the ways we are working to integrate all of the program areas here at The Partnership. If you are interested in attending this training, please register.
From June 12th - 15th, 2016 a delegation from The Partnership will be attending the 2016 Mentoring Partnerships Mentor CON meeting (formally known as States Caucus) facilitated by MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mentor CON provides an opportunity to convene with colleagues as a network of Mentoring Partnerships for shared learning, professional development, and networking. We are also looking forward to the opportunity to participate in a review of training designs for each of the Elements of Effective Practice. We were able to pilot one of the new training designs this month at the New Haven Mentoring Collaborative Meeting. Be on the lookout for an updated training calendar during summer 2016 which highlights these new trainings.
We look forward to seeing you soon at our upcoming trainings, mentoring hub meetings, and webinars.
