PEER-TO-PEER CONNECTION

March 2017

Greetings From Our President and CEO

Dear Partner in Prevention:

As spring approaches each year and we look ahead to prom and graduation season, and then long stretches of summer vacation, our staff members and I renew our commitment to promoting the health and well-being of our young people.  We all know that this time of year brings increased risks—from binge and underage drinking, use of marijuana and other illegal substances, to impaired driving and related consequences—along with great opportunities for us as a prevention community to work together on effective prevention strategies.

One strategy that we continue to prioritize and invest in is peer-to-peer prevention.  When young people themselves provide information, connection and support to their peers in school and community settings, the results can be profound.  This issue of our newsletter features updates on our E3: Encourage, Empower, Engage and SADD programs.  We’d love to hear from you with stories about your peer-to-peer program, or new ideas for youth group activities that we can share across the state.

Please stay in touch and Happy Spring!
