Boundaries are necessary for people to feel safe, create healthy relationships with others, increase effectiveness and support success. Boundaries can take many forms – including creating ‘personal space’, saying ‘no’, and managing your ‘inner critic’. In this session, participants will have an opportunity to develop greater insight into the application of healthy boundaries in the workplace. Each participant will be given the opportunity to identify areas where they may struggle with boundaries and practice different approaches. In addition, they will explore how to effectively manage staff who may also struggle with setting appropriate boundaries.
1. Review the physical, mental and emotional aspects of boundary setting.
2. Identify personal areas of struggle as well as success in setting boundaries.
3. Practice skills of boundary setting including setting limits, saying ‘no’, recognizing limiting beliefs and critical thinking.
4. Develop an action plan to proactively establish new and healthy boundaries.
