This summit will now be held online and is a Part 1 of two online events. Please visit our training and event page for registration information for Part 2.

Part 1:

Join us for “Partnerships in Practice: Law enforcement and local partners addressing opioid use disorder in communities” to learn best practices and share innovative approaches to implementing initiatives based on the Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (PAARI) model. This collaboration involves police departments, hospital emergency departments, and community agencies working together to find solutions for our communities and families throughout the state. For more than a decade, The Governor’s Prevention Partnership has coordinated numerous conferences in order to provide training on prevention strategies for law enforcement and community members.

This FREE STATEWIDE summit* will focus on the successes and challenges faced by community leaders as they address the realities of the opioid crisis every day. Chiefs of Police, Emergency Department directors, Mayors, Legislators, and Behavioral Health/Prevention Professionals are encouraged to attend.

Schedule for the summit:
9:30 am – Welcome and Keynote Speaker
10:00 am – 11:00 am - Panel Discussion

Keynote speaker: Chief Frederick Ryan (ret.)
In January of 2019, Frederick Ryan retired from law enforcement and joined the Community Relations team at Alkermes, Inc. He served as a police officer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 33 years and as Chief of Police in Arlington, Massachusetts for 20 years. Chief Ryan served as Vice-President of the Massachusetts Major City Police Chiefs Association from 2014 to 2019. He has received numerous professional and community awards and is well known nationally for his work around behavioral health and addiction policy. He serves as the Co-Chair of the Police Assisted Addiction Recovery Initiative (PAARI).

We will be holding a second online training event on June 23rd from 9:30 am – 11:00 am. This event will be an interactive meeting to allow participants to discuss how to make the PARRI model work for you and your community.
