September 2017

Greetings from Kristen

Prevention Partners:

September marks so many new beginnings. It is the start of a new school year; our school-based programs begin again, new partnerships and trainings are launched and our programming comes alive.  It is a busy and exciting time at The Partnership.

This month, Peer-to-Peer Connection focuses on prevention in our schools.  It is a critical piece of our work, reaching young people with important messaging through their peers, teachers and other important adults who are connected to them in school. We provide valuable information to schools whose resources are often limited.

In this issue, we talk about using an integrated approach to provide prevention programming in schools, highlight our partnership with Oxford High School and provide several resources to support your work in this area.

September also marks Attendance Awareness Month.  Students with high rates of absenteeism often engage in other risky behaviors, including substance use.  When using the resources in this issue, consider how you might also encourage good attendance practices, ensuring that students are strongly connected to their school.
