Mentoring Collaboratives
The Collaborative Approach:
By mapping mentoring programs in our state’s urban areas and convening and facilitating group meetings, The Partnership helps to create a sustainable infrastructure to expand critical components of mentoring programs.
This enables programs to serve more youth by:
- Designing an infrastructure to manage accountability, access between mentoring programs, referral sources and other service providers.
- Utilizing research-based quality standards to increase the capacity of mentoring programs.
- Developing specialized program offerings to increase positive outcomes.
Each mentoring collaborative (BPT, NH, Hartford & Stamford) is a network comprised of collaborative partners, community stakeholders, faith-based organizations, local health, academic and service providers working with youth who are at risk. Participating programs have identified a common agenda including sharing resources for mentor recruitment and training, as well as receiving technical assistance to strengthen the individual mentoring programs.
Key Partners Include:
Colleges/universities, community, site- and school-based mentoring programs, corporations, faith-based organizations, and state and local government agencies. Additional qualified partners will include those that incorporate prevention strategies into their service delivery model, provide wrap-around services to support youth and families, offer resources to support local mentoring programs, and/or provide access to training and technical assistance.
